Discover New London County

Growing up in Connecticut in the 1960's, the New London area became our family's day-trip destination of choice. In exuberant expectation we loaded the station wagon with sand pails and shovels, swimsuits, Coppertone and beach towels, and made the hour-and-a-half long drive to the coast. Our outings included picnics, swimming, building sandcastles, and just being a kid at places such as Rocky Neck State Park and Ocean Beach Park. We made numerous visits to Mystic Seaport where my life-long love of the sea and all things nautical had its early beginnings. Having a real fondness for cheeseburgers, the icing on the cake after a day at the beach was a stop at Harry's Place in Colchester. It was, and still is, the best burger you'll find anywhere!

Today I enjoy visiting my "old haunts" as well as discovering new attractions and out-of the-way places. Roaming around back roads with GPS and map-in-hand (and a camera, of course!) is one of my favorite pastimes. If your favorite pastime includes entertainment, history, water sports, or a spot on the beach for your sun chair and cooler, you'll find them all here in New London County! Whether you plan to visit for a few hours, overnight, or a week or two, a wide array of area attractions make for a perfect vacation destination. Here you'll find something for everyone!
